The Leaves and the Flowers.

This article is based on my entry as submitted to the competition for a new town hall in Amsterdam in 1966. The proposal reflects a number of my life long interests: the design of an open ended architecture, the large but fine grained project, and the consideration of an extensive program as a continuation of urban tissue rather than the making of a big building.

Written some fifteen years after the design was made, the article reflects on these aspects still pertinent in 1980 as they are today.
